Team Photography in Austin: The Lyons' Share Wellness Retreat
When Megan Lyons brought her team to Austin for their retreat, I got the joy of capturing seven incredible women in one session. Megan founded The Lyons' Share Wellness, a Dallas-based practice focused on functional medicine and wellness coaching, and her team traveled in from all over to spend those days together.

Behind the Session: Photographing a Team of Seven
Group sessions run on planning. Before the retreat, Megan and I talked through how the team would use the images, what the brand feels like, and the mix of shots she needed.
On the day, my job is to keep things easy and moving. With seven women, here's how we structured the session:
Starting with one-on-one portraits in each woman's first outfit, so everyone eased in with individual attention.
Bringing the team together for a round of group shots.
Going back for a second round of one-on-one portraits.
Finishing with more group images, when everyone was relaxed and the connection really showed.
Not everyone loves being in front of the camera, and that is completely normal. I direct every pose and every movement, so no one has to guess what to do with their hands. Getting to know each woman made the day feel less like a photo shoot and more like time together.

How to Prepare for Your Team Photo Session
A little planning makes a team session feel effortless on the day. Here is what I recommend:
Decide how you will use the photos. Website, social, a speaking page or press all need slightly different shots, so share your list early.
Coordinate, don't match. Pick a palette of 3 to 4 colors that fit your brand and let everyone choose outfits within it. Avoid busy logos and tiny patterns.
Schedule it into an existing gathering. A retreat, offsite or team day means everyone is already together, and the energy shows in the images.
Build in time for individuals. Plan 5 to 10 minutes per person for portraits so no one feels rushed.
Pick a setting that fits your brand. A studio, office, boutique hotel or outdoor Austin location each gives a different feel.
Relax and trust the process. I direct everything, so your team can simply show up and be themselves.

How long does a team photo session take? It depends on team size and the shots you need. A team of around seven usually needs time for group shots, smaller groupings and individual portraits. With that being said 90 minutes would be suggested for something that size.
Can you photograph our team during a retreat or event in Austin? Yes. Retreats are one of my favorite times to photograph teams because everyone is already together. I plan around your agenda so the session feels easy, not disruptive.
Do you travel for team photography? Yes. I'm based in Austin and travel for team sessions. Reach out with your location and dates.
What should our team wear? Choose a coordinated color palette that fits your brand, rather than matching outfits. I help with wardrobe planning during our creative consultation.
How soon will we get our photos? Your gallery of high-resolution images arrives 2 to 4 weeks after the session.
