Austin, Texas Womens Brand Photographer Camille Adriane - Available Worldwide

When artist Landry McMeans reached out about updating her brand photography, she knew something had to change. Her business had evolved, her art had evolved but her photos? They were stuck in the past! Sound familiar?

If you’re a woman entrepreneur who’s been piecing together iPhone photos, recycling the same three images from two years ago, or avoiding being on camera altogether, you’re not alone. But here’s what I know after years of photographing women business owners in Austin: the moment you invest in elevated brand photography is the moment everything shifts.

Your visibility increases. Your confidence soars. Your ideal clients start seeing you as the luxury service provider you actually are.

In this guide, I’m pulling back the curtain on what a luxury brand photography experience actually looks like. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at Landry’s session in her art studio, plus everything you need to know about preparing for, investing in, and maximizing your own brand photography.

Whether you’re a creative entrepreneur, coach, wellness professional, or service provider in Austin or beyond—this is your roadmap to showing up powerfully in your business through elevated visuals.

Let’s dive in.

WHY BRAND PHOTOGRAPHY MATTERS FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS

The Real Cost of Outdated Photos

Let me be blunt: Your potential clients are judging your business based on your photos. Not in a shallow way in a “Can I trust this person with my investment?” way.

When someone lands on your website or Instagram and sees:

∙ Grainy, dark, or poorly lit images

∙ Inconsistent visual branding

∙ Photos that don’t reflect your current business level

∙ Stock photos instead of YOU

They make assumptions. “Is this business still operating?” “Are they professional?” “Do they actually know what they’re doing?”

What Brand Photography Actually Solves

1. Credibility & Trust

Professional photography signals that you’re serious about your business. It shows you invest in yourself, which makes clients feel confident investing in you.

2. Consistent Content

One brand session gives you 3-6 months (or more) of content. No more scrambling for Instagram posts or website images.

3. Visibility

When you have photos you’re proud of, you’ll actually WANT to show up. You’ll post more, pitch yourself more confidently, and put yourself out there without hesitation.

4. Premium Positioning

Luxury brand photography helps you attract luxury clients. When your visuals match your pricing, you stop attracting bargain shoppers and start attracting dream clients.

The Investment Mindset Shift

Brand photography isn’t an expense, it’s an investment in your business growth. Think of it this way: if elevated photos help you book just 2-3 additional clients at your current rates, the session has already paid for itself.

For Landry, having a gallery of professional images means she can:

∙ Update her website with cohesive, on-brand photos

∙ Create months of social media content

∙ Submit professional images to galleries and press opportunities

∙ Show up confidently in her marketing

The ROI isn’t just financial—it’s the confidence, time saved, and opportunities that come from having a visual brand that matches the quality of your work!

PLANNING YOUR BRAND PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION

Step 1: Define Your Brand Photography Goals

Before Landry and I even picked up a camera, we had a strategy call. This is where the magic starts.

Questions I ask every client:

∙ What do you want these photos to communicate about you and your business?

∙ Who is your ideal client, and what do they need to see to trust you?

∙ Where will you use these images? (Website, social, marketing materials, press, etc.)

∙ What’s missing from your current photo gallery?

∙ How do you want to FEEL in your photos?

For Landry, the answers were clear: she wanted to showcase both her as the artist AND her artwork. She wanted warm, authentic images that felt elevated but approachable. She needed variety. Different looks, angles, and setups that could work across platforms.

Step 2: Location, Location, Location

Choosing the right location is critical. For Landry, shooting in her actual art studio was a no-brainer. It’s where the magic happens, and it’s deeply connected to her brand.

Location Options for Brand Photography:

∙ Your workspace (office, studio, storefront) - Shows the “real” you

∙ Your home (if you’re a lifestyle or wellness brand) - Intimate and personal

∙ Outdoor locations - Natural light, Austin vibes, relaxed feel

∙ Neutral studio - Timeless, versatile, puts all focus on YOU

∙ Client-relevant spaces (coffee shops, coworking spaces, etc.) - Shows you “in action”

Pro tip: Choose 2-3 locations or setups within one location to maximize variety without the stress of moving around town.

Step 3: Wardrobe Planning

This is where women entrepreneurs often freeze up. “What do I wear?!”

Here’s my formula:

Outfit 1: Your Signature Look

This is what you wear 80% of the time in your business. For Landry, it was that gorgeous rust-colored fitted top with cream pants—effortlessly chic, artistic, HER.

Outfit 2: Elevated Version

A slightly dressier take that shows range. For Landry, the striped pants with a tank and hat gave us playful, confident, artistic energy.

Outfit 3: Versatility

Something different in color, style, or vibe. This gives you options for different seasons or marketing needs.

Outfit 4: The Wild Card (optional)

Something bold, unexpected, or trend-forward that stretches you just a bit.

Wardrobe Guidelines:

∙ Stick to 2-3 colors max that align with your brand

∙ Avoid busy patterns (unless that’s very on-brand for you)

∙ Wear what makes you feel POWERFUL

∙ Bring options—we can always adjust on the day

Step 4: Hair, Makeup & Grooming

I always recommend professional hair and makeup for brand sessions. Why?

1. You’ll feel more confident

2. You’ll look polished on camera

3. It’s an experience—you deserve to be pampered

4. Professional makeup photographs better than everyday makeup

If professional hair and makeup isn’t in the budget, at least have your hair freshly cut/colored and practice your makeup in natural light before the shoot.

Step 5: Props & Personal Touches

This is where your session becomes uniquely YOURS.

For Landry, her art was the prop. We positioned her with her pieces, used her studio tools, incorporated her workspace.

For other entrepreneurs, this might include:

∙ Your product or tools of your trade

∙ A laptop or notebook

∙ Coffee or tea

∙ Books relevant to your industry

∙ Items that show your personality (jewelry, florals, etc.)

The goal is authenticity, not staged perfection!

THE SESSION ITSELF - A BEHIND-THE-SCENES LOOK

Walking into Landry’s Studio

The moment I stepped into Landry’s space, I knew we were going to create something special. Her studio walls were covered in her stunning desert-inspired artwork—cacti, moths, landscapes in warm terracottas, blush pinks, and sage greens. The natural light pouring in was absolutely dreamy.

This is the beauty of shooting in a space that’s authentically yours. The environment tells part of your story before we even start shooting.

Setup 1: The Artist in Her Element

We started with Landry seated on a wooden bench, surrounded by her large-scale framed pieces. The composition was intentional: her artwork creates a gallery wall effect that draws your eye to her—the creator—at the center.

What we captured:

∙ Seated poses showing her at ease in her space

∙ Natural, candid moments

∙ Images showcasing both her AND her art simultaneously

∙ Different angles and crops for versatility

Why this matters for YOUR session:

Your first setup should feel natural and comfortable. It’s where we ease into the session, shake off any camera nerves, and start to find your rhythm.

Setup 2: Multiple Angles, Maximum Content

Here’s a secret: we don’t actually need to move locations to create variety. By shifting angles, changing your position, and adjusting lighting, we can create entirely different looks in the same space.

For Landry’s second setup, we photographed her standing among her prints—some shots with her adjusting artwork, others with her looking at the camera, and candid moments of her interacting with her pieces.

The Content Strategy:

Each setup gives you 15-30 usable images. Multiply that by 4 setups, and you have 60-120 professionally edited photos to use across:

∙ Website homepage, about page, services pages

∙ Instagram feed and stories (months of content)

∙ Email newsletters and signatures

∙ LinkedIn and other professional platforms

∙ Press kits and media inquiries

∙ Print materials and business cards

Setup 3: Wardrobe Change = Fresh Energy

Midway through, Landry changed into her striped pants and added that perfect wide-brim hat. The energy shifted—playful, confident, a bit more fashion-forward.

This is the power of wardrobe changes. The same person, same location, but completely different vibe.

We captured:

∙ Her standing confidently on a vintage chair

∙ Shots from behind showing the artwork

∙ Profile angles that felt editorial

∙ Movement and candid moments

Pro tip: Don’t underestimate the power of “in-between” moments. Some of the best shots happen when you’re adjusting your hair, laughing between poses, or looking away from the camera.

Setup 4: The Close-Ups & Details

The final setup focused on closer shots—headshots, creative angles, and those “hero images” that work perfectly for social media profile pictures and website headers.

We also captured detail shots of Landry’s space, her art up close, and environmental shots that can be used as backgrounds or secondary images on her website.

The Magic of Working Slowly

Here’s what sets luxury brand photography apart from a quick 30-minute session: we take our TIME.

Landry’s session was relaxed, intentional, and collaborative. We moved through each setup thoughtfully, checking lighting, adjusting poses, and making sure she felt confident every step of the way.

There was no rushing. No stress. Just creativity, conversation, and connection.

This is what makes the experience feel less like “getting photos done” and more like “claiming your space as the powerhouse you are.

AFTER THE SESSION - WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

The Editing Process

Within 2-3 weeks of your session, you’ll receive your full gallery of professionally edited images. Every photo is:

∙ Color-corrected and beautifully edited to match your brand aesthetic

∙ Optimized for both web and print use

∙ Organized and easy to download

∙ Yours to use however you want (with full licensing rights)

How to Maximize Your Brand Photography Investment

You’ve invested in beautiful photos, now let’s make sure you actually USE them!

Immediate Actions:

1. Update your website - Homepage, about page, services, contact

2. Refresh all social media profile pictures across platforms

3. Create a content calendar using your new images

4. Update your email signature with a professional headshot

5. Refresh any marketing materials (lead magnets, PDFs, presentations)

Long-Term Strategy:

∙ Batch content creation - Write captions for 20-30 posts using your new images

∙ Seasonal refreshes - Save some photos to roll out during slower seasons

∙ Repurpose creatively - Use the same image with different crops or filters

∙ Behind-the-scenes content - Share the BTS experience with your audience

The Ripple Effect

Here’s what I see happen after clients invest in brand photography:

They show up more consistently on social media.

They pitch themselves for speaking gigs and podcasts.

They raise their prices (because they finally LOOK like the premium service they are).

They attract higher-quality clients who are ready to invest.

The photos aren’t magic on their own, but they give you the confidence and tools to step into the next level of your business!
