Inside a Brand Photography Session with an Austin, Texas Women's Brand Photographer

Some sessions just have a different kind of energy from the moment they start and Andie's was one of those! She came in warm, playful, and completely herself, and that energy carried through every single frame we captured together. I'm so excited to share a look inside this session because it was truly one for the books!
Meet Andie and the Brand Behind the Session
Andie is an entrepreneur in the Mahjong space and if you haven't heard of Oh My Mahjong yet, get ready to fall in love. Oh My Mahjong is a women-led brand built around the centuries-old tile game that's having a serious cultural renaissance right now. We're talking community, conversation, laughter, and real human connection, all centered around a table and a beautiful set of tiles.
Mahjong is genuinely having a moment. It's become one of the go-to ways women entrepreneurs are networking and building community in a real, screen-free way. Andie lives and breathes that spirit — she is fun, she is community-driven, she is the kind of person who makes everyone in the room feel like they belong. That's exactly the energy we needed to capture.
The Perfect Location: A Peerspace Venue in Austin
Andie booked a stunning space through Peerspace, one of my favorite platforms for finding unique, photogenic venues here in Austin. The home she chose was warm, light-filled, and full of the kind of natural details that make every frame feel effortless. I always encourage my clients to think carefully about their location because it sets the entire tone of a session and Andie nailed it!
How the Session Unfolded: Inside a Brand Photography Session
We started with just the two of us Andie and me diving straight into headshots and lifestyle content. This one-on-one time at the top of the session is so valuable. It gives my clients a chance to warm up, find their rhythm, and just enjoy the process. By the time we were a few minutes in, Andie was completely in her element.
Then the fun really started. Andie had invited four of her friends to join us, and we set up the most amazing scene: all of them gathered around the table, actually playing Mahjong. The tiles were out, the conversation was flowing, and the energy in that room was electric. That's the kind of content that makes a brand feel alive not staged or stiff, but real, joyful, and completely on-brand. Behind-the-scenes video from this day captured the whole magic too, and those clips are going to be incredible for Andie's brand presence.
Four Outfits, Four Stories
Andie came ready with three planned outfit changes, which is exactly what I build into my sessions. But at the end of our time together, she had one more look she wanted to try, and I said yes. We squeezed in a bonus fourth outfit, and honestly? Some of my favorite images of the day came from that last round. Each outfit gave us a completely different mood and a different set of images to work with, giving Andie's gallery a rich, varied visual language to draw from.
When Timing Is Everything: A Rush Delivery and a Magazine Feature
Here's the part of this story that still gives me chills. During Andie's final creative consultation call just a few weeks before her shoot date, she shared some exciting news: her images were going to need to be on a rush delivery. She had been approached by a magazine and her brand was going to be featured and the timing lined up almost perfectly with our session! I love that this is what brand photography can do. Opportunities like magazine features don't wait, and having a session already lined up meant Andie was ready to say yes. I was able to deliver her gallery just two days after the shoot date so she could meet her magazine deadline with time to spare!
Along with the rush delivery, Andie also purchased a commercial license for ten of her images, which grants full legal rights to use those photos in published, commercial contexts like magazine spreads, press features, and media coverage. This is something I always make sure my clients know is available to them, because when big opportunities come knocking, you want to be completely protected and ready to go. Being able to accommodate Andie and make sure she had everything she needed on time, legally covered, and looking absolutely stunning, is exactly why I do this work. This is what it means to truly serve your clients!
What the Final Gallery Delivered
The final gallery is everything. Polished headshots that communicate confidence and warmth. Lifestyle images that show Andie in her element joyful, playful, in community. Group shots full of laughter and genuine connection. Beautiful detail moments with the tiles, the space, the textures. And yes, ten magazine-worthy images that are now out in the world representing her brand in print. This is what a fully realized brand session looks like not just pretty pictures, but a complete visual toolkit that becomes the foundation of everything Andie puts out into the world.
A Note on Session Length and What's Right for You!
Andie booked my 90-minute session and look what we accomplished. That gallery will serve her brand beautifully for the next three to six months. We moved intentionally, made every minute count, and she left with more than she expected. But if you're looking for a gallery that gives you a full year of content, with room for multiple locations, more outfit changes, more collaboration, and zero sense of rush that's what my three-hour session is designed for. It's the experience where everything breathes, where we can explore and be spontaneous and go deep. After nine years of doing this work here in Austin, I can tell you: when you're not watching the clock, the images show it.
Both options are incredible. It comes down to what you need right now and I'm always happy to chat through what makes the most sense for your brand.
